Privacy Policy
How WhatMaths handles your information.
This Privacy Policy explains how WhatMaths ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit whatmaths.com. By using the website you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
WhatMaths does not require an account, and we do not ask you for personal details to use the calculators. The numbers and equations you enter are processed in your browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers.
If you use the Contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit so that we can reply to you.
Data stored in your browser
Some features save information locally on your own device using your browser's storage, such as your light or dark theme choice, calculator history, saved notes and drawings, and layout preferences. This data stays on your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Log and technical data
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the time of the visit. This is used for security, performance, and basic site statistics.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use WhatMaths, such as which pages are viewed, how visitors find the site, and the type of device and browser used. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects this information in aggregated form, together with approximate location. We use it only to improve the website.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. To learn more about how Google handles data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Cookies and advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the Internet.
Where required by law, visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message so they can choose how their data is used for advertising.
Third-party services
To work properly, WhatMaths loads resources from third parties: Google Fonts (typography), cdnjs by Cloudflare (the KaTeX math rendering library), Google AdSense (advertising), and FormSubmit (delivery of Contact form messages). These providers may receive your IP address and browser information when their resources load. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
Children's privacy
WhatMaths is a general educational website and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, use our Contact page.
Data retention
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and to keep a record of the conversation.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently changed.
